Get Well Soon Lou Party [OPEN]

 Val had worked hard turning her precious garden into a space suitable for a party. She knew how stressed out and awful Lou must feel right now and she was determined that she would shake her right back into the cheerful voice of reason she normally was. Messages had been sent out to anyone who had any connection to Lou the night she came home from the hospital and Val prayed people would have time to show up.

Every branch and bush in the garden had been strung with fairy lights, the strings hidden so they looked more like floating globes of light. Chairs and tables had been tucked into empty spaces and various snacks and alcohol had been set up on a long table off to the side. She'd taken into consideration the rather... aphrodisiac effect these get-togethers seemed to have and small nooks out of the way of the rest of the party had been set up and thoroughly charmed with privacy charms. More charms sent out an thread of magic to draw anyone who appeared to be looking for privacy towards them.

Sitting herself down in the middle of everything, she spent an hour putting the strongest protection spells she could in a bubble around the party. They wouldn't do anything to keep those who wandered away from the party safe, but hopefully they would keep those in the bubble safe for the duration of the party.

A quick charm on her flowers so they wouldn't be trampled or picked, a call to Lou to ask her to come over, and a shower and an outfit change later, she was ready. Taking a deep breath, she turned on the soft, not too energetic music she'd put together, and flopped down into a chair to wait.

After a few days of rest, Grant's feeling almost 100% better. Still, his doctor has him on at lease one crutch and asks him to stay off of it as much as possible. No way in hell he'd miss a party for Lou though.

He arrives at the Jung house, slipping in through the small crowd that's gathered, and takes a seat on a bench in the garden. It's gorgeous. Something he's sure is all Val's doing.

Val nearly blows past him without noticing he's there, she's so wrapped up in making sure everything's perfect.

"Grant!" she breathes, out of breath from all her running aronud. "You came! Hi!"

He almost jumps when Val yells his name. "Slow down, crazy. You almost bowled that punch cart over. Oh, PS hi," he smiles.

"Not crazy, just bus- Do not pluck that rose, mister. I will pluck your goddamn fingers off." she snaps at a rather terrified looking young man. "Sorry, people keep trying to touch my flowers. They're charmed but I don't like it anyway. How's your leg?"

"Hey," he gets up immediately when he realizes how on edge Val is and touches her back lightly. "Hey pal, these are very rare flowers, please look but don't touch," he adds a grin and the man is soothed back into not completely leaving the party.

"Why'd you throw a party in your garden?"

"Because it was the prettiest place I could think of and I thought it might sooth Lou," she huffs, levelling a glare at the man's back. "I didn't think about idiots attempting to touch my babies. ...Thank you, by the way."

"It is the prettiest place, I'll definitely give you that. And I'm sure Lou will love all of it. You should enjoy your own party."

She shakes her head, grabbing a glass of water and thrusting it into his hands. "I've gotta keep up my protection charms and keep everyone happy. No time to enjoy," she explains, her mouth quirking into an embarrassed smile.

Grant glances at the water--guess no alcohol tonight? "You're going to exhaust yourself."

She catches the glance. "Alcohol and pain meds don't mix, mister." she scolds, propping a fist on her hip. "I will be fine. I'm a big girl. I promise."

Val feels herself sway slightly and frowns. "Or... maybe I'll sit for a little bit."

"No fun," he teases. Grant takes her arm when she sways. "Hey, good idea. Just take it easy for a bit okay. When did you last eat?"

"Oh, okay. You drink and tell me how much fun you're having when you're throwing up into my lobelias an hour from now," she snips. "Umm... This... morning? Like... 7?"

[grantmiddleton]

"Alright, alright, no alcohol. I'm pretty sure you'd kill me anyways. Or your sister would." He tucks a crutch under his arm. "Yup, getting you a sandwich. Stay. Here." he gives her a stern look before making his way over to the food table and filling up a plate for her.

"Okay, I wasn't sure what you like so I got a bit of everything."

She laughs, lowering herself into a seat and kicking out the opposite one for him. "Sorry about Riley... She's a little... protective." she laughs, embarrassed.

"Everything is fine! I didn't get anything I wouldn't eat myself," she reassures him as she tucks into the plate, fully stuffing her face with it. "'it 'own."

[grantmiddleton]

He chuckles as he takes a seat opposite of Val and toasts his water to her. "That's an understatement. I'm pretty sure she threatened me with murder."

"Good. I figured as much, but you never know."

"Tit-for-tat, I guess," she shrugs. "I threatened the dude she's going on a date with with growing flowers in his lungs soooo..."

"I eat pretty much anything. Riley took awhile to become a good enough cook that things didn't taste like charcoal so... You get used to it."

[grantmiddleton]

"Good God. Did he cancel the date?"

He grins. "You don't want my cooking then. Grew up being actively kept from the kitchen."

(Somewhere, Riley's kicking a plant over.)

"Surprisingly, no. If the date goes poorly though, he's never getting another one," she grins. "I have much worse threats than that."

"So was I, but mostly because I kept setting things on fire." Val laughs softly, remembering the first time she tried to make pancakes for Mother's Day.

She senses something happening to one of her plants and knows it's Riley. "JUNG JI-YUN, IF YOU JUST HURT ONE OF MY PLANTS I'M GOING TO POUR OUT ALL OF YOUR FAVOURITE POTIONS, SO HELP ME GOD," she calls out before swivelling back to Grant. "Sorry!"

Grant blinks at her for a full minute before smiling. "You're terrifying and I kinda dig that."

He leans to his right, looking around the corner of the house to see Riley picking up whatever potted plant she knocked over and placing it back on the edge of one of the gardens. She cups her hands around her mouth. "STOP BEING A CRYBABY, IT WAS AN ACCIDENT."

She blushes, shoving a spoonful of ice cream in her mouth. "'anks??? I 'ink?"

"YEAH AND I'LL "ACCIDENTALLY" KNOCK YOUR POTIONS INTO THE SINK." she hollers back, glaring over her shoulder.

"Definitely a compliment. You'd do well as a cop."

Grant's pretty sure Riley just flipped her middle finger at her sister's back and wonders which sister actually took after the other. He glances back at Val. "Do you ever not yell at each other?"

She pauses in eating and goes quiet before laughing. "Ah yeah. I'm gonna go apply right now. I'm sure to get in! They love witches down there, right?"

Val shrugs. "When we're in the same room we just get scary quiet at each other..."

[grantmiddleton]

Grant rolls his eyes. "Minus the whole witch thing. Or even outside of Siren Cove, alright? I just want to shove you in an interrogation room and watch you make the creeps cry," he grins.

"Is there ever a time you two get along?"

Riley appears beside Grant out of nowhere, in her black cat dress and holding a plate filled with cake. "Ever hurt my sister in any way and I'll douse your manhood with an unnamed, incurable disease, got it?" She smiles. "Anyway, enjoy the party, grab some punch, the cake is delicious, bye!"

Grant's jaw drops for a moment. "Well, I'm scared."
