Get Well Soon Lou Party [OPEN]

 Val had worked hard turning her precious garden into a space suitable for a party. She knew how stressed out and awful Lou must feel right now and she was determined that she would shake her right back into the cheerful voice of reason she normally was. Messages had been sent out to anyone who had any connection to Lou the night she came home from the hospital and Val prayed people would have time to show up.

Every branch and bush in the garden had been strung with fairy lights, the strings hidden so they looked more like floating globes of light. Chairs and tables had been tucked into empty spaces and various snacks and alcohol had been set up on a long table off to the side. She'd taken into consideration the rather... aphrodisiac effect these get-togethers seemed to have and small nooks out of the way of the rest of the party had been set up and thoroughly charmed with privacy charms. More charms sent out an thread of magic to draw anyone who appeared to be looking for privacy towards them.

Sitting herself down in the middle of everything, she spent an hour putting the strongest protection spells she could in a bubble around the party. They wouldn't do anything to keep those who wandered away from the party safe, but hopefully they would keep those in the bubble safe for the duration of the party.

A quick charm on her flowers so they wouldn't be trampled or picked, a call to Lou to ask her to come over, and a shower and an outfit change later, she was ready. Taking a deep breath, she turned on the soft, not too energetic music she'd put together, and flopped down into a chair to wait.

"Well, I didn't want to disappoint, so I kind of brought a bit of everything?" He says with a grin. Loveliness clearly runs in the family.

"Alright, in the back? Any place in particular you want things? I don't want to mess up any plans," he says as he follows her out back. "I'm Tristan. Riley's told me a little about you, all good things of course."

"Trist- Ohhhh. You're Tristan! Riley's told me a bit about you as well," she says, a vaguely evil smile dancing across her face. "There's a long table set up for food. It's kind of hard to miss. So, you bake, hm?"

Tristan is definitely afraid of the knowing smirk gracing the other woman's face. But he keeps on smiling, even with a blush. "Ah, good. Wow, it looks amazing out here. Did you do all this yourself?" He stops to take in the fairy lights and the way the plants glow with their own sort of light. It's incredible, really, and Tristan finds himself in awe.

"Yes, I bake," he grins. "Pies, mostly, but also cakes and pastries."

"Yup. Riley tried to help for awhile but she's absolutely useless in the garden and ends up hurting more than she helps," she chuckles, quietly pleased at the look of awe on his face.

"You own your own bakery, right? Does that make good money?"

"She sounds like me in a garden," he says with a grin as he continues to look around the beautiful garden. "I'm definitely an observer, not a planter."

"On a good week? Yes," he says, blushing at the Older Sister inquisition. "I also take in money by catering and offering my baking charms to those who want it."

"Don't touch my flowers." she says, her face going incredibly serious in the blink of an eye. "Don't go near them."

"Good. What are your intentions with my sister?"

"Okay I won't, I promise." He backs away a bit, paling at her stern tone and the look on her face. He would make sure he would never even breath on her flowers.

"Completely honorable, I assure you," he says. "Currently taking her to dinner and a movie."

"Okay! Thank you!" she smiles, her demeanour changing in an instant.

"What movie? And what kind of dinner?" Val folds her arms across her chest. "Are you going to bring her flowers?"

He kind of stares at how quickly she changes, but he also understands. He doesn't get quite as intense about his food, but he does feel protective about the ingredients before they go into his pies.

"Well, she said she liked superhero movies, so I suggested the new X-Men movie," he says, hiding his fidgeting hands behind his back to try and ease his nervousness. "And she said she liked Italian, so I thought we'd try Francesco's, down town."

"And I was going to ask you what her favorite flowers were, as a matter of fact. As well as her favorite kind of chocolate."

She lifts her chin, waves of intimidation flowing off of her. "Passion flowers. And caramel filled. And if you hurt her, you will find yourself with a clutch of flora growing in your lung. They'll look so lovely once they emerge to decorate your grave!" she beams before skipping off.

"I, thank you?" He says as she skips off, very much intimidated and determined never to anger, upset, or otherwise disturb Riley's sister.

Riley rushes over to find Tristan after smacking her head on a tree and hearing from Val that she had actually talked to the poor guy. She stops short in front of him, kind of out of breath.

"I'm sorry! We're very protective of each other."

He turns when he hears Riley approach, smiling in relief when he sees her, though he grows concerned when he notices her injury. "Completely understandable. I'm an only child, so I don't know what that feels like but are you okay?"

"You look lovely," he hastens to adds, because it's true. "I love the cat dress."

She smiles brightly when she sees he's back to his old self and doesn't gave a tree growing out of his chest. "It worked! Oh!" She touches her head lightly. "Val startled me and I ran into a tree. In my defense, it's new."


Riley blushes as she laughs. "Thank you. I wore it to make my sister mad because she makes me wear dresses to these things, but she likes it. You look nice and handsome."

"She's very protective of her plants and you," he observes, glad to hear her injury is nothing serious.

"Your sister has good taste," he teases with a grin and a chuckle. "It really suits your personality."

"Thank you," he says, looking down at his outfit of tan trousers and olive dress shirt. "I wanted to look nice, the handsome is definitely a bonus."

"She's weird about her plants. It's best just to not even look at them," she laughs. "Didn't feel like donning the crown for a backyard party?"

"I saw you brought food with you. Thanks. Val was killing herself to make this whole thing perfect. You really helped with that."

"Yeah, I'm just trying not to accidentally breathe on them, honestly," he says, running a hand through his hair with a sheepish grin. "I think the crown is better off away from plants far prettier than it. It probably gets jealous and starts eating hair."

"Oh, it's never a problem to bake, especially for such a good cause," he nods to the banner for Lou. "I'm glad everyone likes the food."

"If you do, blame the person closest to you," she teases. "I dunno, Val may have loved the crown and threatened you a lot less. But then I'd hate to see your hair get eaten."

Riley looks back at the banner and smiles. "I'm sure she'll love them."

"Oh, tucking that idea away in case of an emergency," he nods at her with faux solemnity. "My hair is too pretty to be eaten."

"I hope so," he says with a grin. "Oh, and I meant to ask this earlier, but what night works best for you?"

"When in doubt, blame someone else. At least where Val's concerned. Just don't blame me, I get in enough trouble," she winks. "It's true. It'd be a tragedy."

"Oh, right." Riley feels her face burn again at the mention of their date. "I'm free for the next several nights, actually. Then I have a shift at Watersong."

"I would never dream of it," he assures her.

"Oh, you work at Watersong too? I didn't know that," he says. "Um. I'm available whenever. I don't typically have much of an exciting night life beyond staying in with my cat," he admits.

"I bartend a few nights out of the week." She nods in agreement. "Replace 'cat' with 'Val' and you pretty much have my life. Tomorrow night?"

"Oh nice! I'll have to come and see you bartend then. Do you use magic at all?" He gives her a mischievous grin. "Tomorrow night sounds fantastic!"

"I do, but only when Lara lets me." She ducks her head at the idea of Tristan seeing her at Watersong, a job that requires her to dress much differently than Coombs & Co. "Awesome. I'm excited!"
