Age: 22
Location: Siren Cove
Species: Witch
Powers: Witch. Valeria’s powers revolve mainly around plant life, but with a side speciality of curses (brought about by a lot of ignorant bullies during her childhood). She uses them to grow amazing flowers for a flower shop she runs and occasionally to manipulate flowers into new breeds when she needs extra money. Anywhere she spends a significant amount of time is likely to quickly be overgrown with plants. (Her shared cottage with her sister is a prime example)
Valeria enjoys cursing and charming flowers she grows and leaving them for people who annoy or please her (in that order.) She is easily provoked and finds issue with even small slights. Once set against a person, it's very difficult to get her to forgive or forget. Riley is one of the few people who can calm her down when she's riled up and talk some sense into her.
Personality: Val comes across as a sweet, adorable young woman with a green thumb and an intense love for flowers. Inside, however, she’s easily provoked to anger and has a tendency to seek revenge with even the smallest slights. Her anger might be hidden by a sweet grin but inside, you can be guaranteed she’s plotting out ways to make your life a living hell if you insult her or the people she loves. Val’s need for revenge is slightly tempered by her older sister’s presence, unless her older sister is on the receiving end of the insults. The one true love of Valeria’s life is her flowers and her tiny flower shop. The magic that flows through her channels best into curses and plant life and she’s known for having created a couple of very unique flower breeds after nudging them into beautiful mutations. New flowers for her gardens are a great way to appease her temper when you’re on her hit list. Outside of flowers, she also has a small vegetable garden behind her house which she occasionally raids to share out to her friends.
Bio: Valeria is a first generation American, the daughter of Korean immigrants. She’s got an older sister (Jung Ji-Yun/Riley) whom she’s very close to (and currently lives with) and they’ve stuck close together ever since their parents returned to Korea to care for an ailing grandparent. She graduated high school fairly easily but felt no need to pursue higher education as her powers provided a perfect job opportunity for her. Pre-graduation, she’d sought out employment with a local flower shop run by an older gentleman and helped him fix it up to where it was well known and much more popular (especially with young adults who claimed the roses had an almost magic like soothing quality when given to irritated paramours.) When he passed away, she was handed over control of the business and feels much more comfortable “openly” charming the plants she sells for health, love, etc. (Not that anyone non-magical would notice, and even some magical creatures might not) She doesn’t have much of a social life. Dating was never as interesting as her work at the flower shop and being the target of small minded bullies as a young woman gave her a rather irritable view of the inhabitants that were her own age.

Headcanons:
-Val's healing magic is tied into her plant magic. It's a natural extension of being able to manipulate life and the fact that plants have traditionally been used for healing purposes. If she focused and trained herself, she'd be pretty useful as a healer, but currently she's good for taking away pain and small mends.
-She's got a HORRIBLE hero complex. If she sees people in danger, she'll rush in (as long as it doesn't put Riley in danger)
-She dyes her hair a lot. She likes switching things up.
Current Plotlines:
Navigating Relationship Sea - She's currently in a sort-of-relationship with Grant Middleton and, obviously, they've still got the issues surrounding a cop/witch relationship to work out. They're doing well enough for now, but there's still occasional bouts of tension (especially around her casual use of magic)
Relationships:
Riley Jung - Her sister and her best friend. Val's the younger of the two but still has a horribly active protective streak. She will protect her sister over everyone else, including herself, and will not stand for anyone treating her poorly. She gets irritated by her sister's constant refusal to wear nice clothes to nice places and will bully her into wearing something presentable.
Grant Middleton - Things are... awkward with Grant. Are they in a relationship? Are they not? Things definitely didn't start off well with them. She's a witch, he's a cop. They flirted at first but it quickly turned into intense coldness when she realized what he was. She doesn't have a good history with the police and resents them for not letting her live her life, as long as she isn't hurting anyone. But things have been slowly working themselves out. A need to protect each other has formed and the occasional makeout session most definitely doesn't hurt.
Lara Quinn - A big sister/mother figure to Val and Riley. Val loves being around her and visiting her at the Watersong, especially when Riley's got a shift. If Val needs motherly advice, Lara is the first she'll go to.
Lou Abasi - Val's best friend, outside Riley. She has a complicated history with Lou and keeps many secrets on her behalf. One of the few people who knows Lou outside of the amazingly cheerful, caring person she usually is, she holds a large ball of worry in her heart for her friend and will do almost anything to help protect her.
