Get Well Soon Lou Party [OPEN]

 Val had worked hard turning her precious garden into a space suitable for a party. She knew how stressed out and awful Lou must feel right now and she was determined that she would shake her right back into the cheerful voice of reason she normally was. Messages had been sent out to anyone who had any connection to Lou the night she came home from the hospital and Val prayed people would have time to show up.

Every branch and bush in the garden had been strung with fairy lights, the strings hidden so they looked more like floating globes of light. Chairs and tables had been tucked into empty spaces and various snacks and alcohol had been set up on a long table off to the side. She'd taken into consideration the rather... aphrodisiac effect these get-togethers seemed to have and small nooks out of the way of the rest of the party had been set up and thoroughly charmed with privacy charms. More charms sent out an thread of magic to draw anyone who appeared to be looking for privacy towards them.

Sitting herself down in the middle of everything, she spent an hour putting the strongest protection spells she could in a bubble around the party. They wouldn't do anything to keep those who wandered away from the party safe, but hopefully they would keep those in the bubble safe for the duration of the party.

A quick charm on her flowers so they wouldn't be trampled or picked, a call to Lou to ask her to come over, and a shower and an outfit change later, she was ready. Taking a deep breath, she turned on the soft, not too energetic music she'd put together, and flopped down into a chair to wait.

"As mom says, if you got it, flaunt it."

"We'd kill each other before we were eighteen if we were boys, probably."

"You have to got it first though, unnie."

"Oh god. As if we didn't try sometimes," she laughs. "Our fights were really something to behold, huh?"

"Surprisingly, no. If the date goes poorly though, he's never getting another one," she grins. "I have much worse threats than that."

"So was I, but mostly because I kept setting things on fire." Val laughs softly, remembering the first time she tried to make pancakes for Mother's Day.

She senses something happening to one of her plants and knows it's Riley. "JUNG JI-YUN, IF YOU JUST HURT ONE OF MY PLANTS I'M GOING TO POUR OUT ALL OF YOUR FAVOURITE POTIONS, SO HELP ME GOD," she calls out before swivelling back to Grant. "Sorry!"

Grant blinks at her for a full minute before smiling. "You're terrifying and I kinda dig that."

He leans to his right, looking around the corner of the house to see Riley picking up whatever potted plant she knocked over and placing it back on the edge of one of the gardens. She cups her hands around her mouth. "STOP BEING A CRYBABY, IT WAS AN ACCIDENT."

She blushes, shoving a spoonful of ice cream in her mouth. "'anks??? I 'ink?"

"YEAH AND I'LL "ACCIDENTALLY" KNOCK YOUR POTIONS INTO THE SINK." she hollers back, glaring over her shoulder.

"Definitely a compliment. You'd do well as a cop."

Grant's pretty sure Riley just flipped her middle finger at her sister's back and wonders which sister actually took after the other. He glances back at Val. "Do you ever not yell at each other?"

She pauses in eating and goes quiet before laughing. "Ah yeah. I'm gonna go apply right now. I'm sure to get in! They love witches down there, right?"

Val shrugs. "When we're in the same room we just get scary quiet at each other..."

"Woooooow, no need for rudeness here, Val. I'm telling Lou on you."

"And they aren't now? I think we've scared everyone here..."

[grantmiddleton]

Grant rolls his eyes. "Minus the whole witch thing. Or even outside of Siren Cove, alright? I just want to shove you in an interrogation room and watch you make the creeps cry," he grins.

"Is there ever a time you two get along?"

Val laughs. "That sounds like a good time... You ever need a witchy consultant, you know my number."

"We always get along. That's how we show our love!"

"I'm telling Lou you threatened Grant. She loves Grant."

"Good. Everyone should be scared of us. We're scary people," she grins, tugging on a piece of her hair.

"She loves him, but surely she knows where I'm coming from."

"You would take pleasure in that," she grins.

"She'll know where I'm coming from too then! So we're all good!"

"What? I think people should have a little more fear of little Asian ladies. We're not delicate lotus flowers like they think, y'know?" she laughs.

"I'll keep that in mind next time on of the guys pisses me off," he winks.

Grant shakes his head. "Man, I don't get siblings."

She blushes slightly but grins. "Give 'em the old plant mage special."

"That's cause you're an only child. You never had someone to get in fights with. No matter how much we fight, we still love each other."

He turns when he hears Riley approach, smiling in relief when he sees her, though he grows concerned when he notices her injury. "Completely understandable. I'm an only child, so I don't know what that feels like but are you okay?"

"You look lovely," he hastens to adds, because it's true. "I love the cat dress."

Lou had really wanted to say no to anything that meant leaving the house, but this was Val. And she knew Val was going to worry about her until Lou hugged her with a big smile on her face and made a silly mom-joke. Or older sister, maybe she was lucky with just being seen as an older sister.

So she had showed up. And, after stumbling into the garden on those stupid crutches: "Oh my fu- fri- oh my bleeping gods, what did you do with your garden? It's so incr-" Don't cry. "beautiful!"

Lara smiled at the decorations. Val had done a great job and the whole place glowed. Following the sound of music Lara went through the trees to find the party.

Lara walked up to Lou grinning. "You look much better."

Val grins as she pulls herself out of her chair and rushes over, tugging Lou into a hug. "It's nothing. I just thought you'd like a little cheering up party."

"How's your leg feeling now? Did you call a doctor for a house visit yet?" she asks, pulling back to look her over carefully. "Come on, I have plenty of seats set up for you."

Val spotted Lara as she showed up, running over with a grin. "You made it! Hi! How are you?" she babbles, looking her over. "I haven't seen you since all this drama started happening."

She smiles brightly when she sees he's back to his old self and doesn't gave a tree growing out of his chest. "It worked! Oh!" She touches her head lightly. "Val startled me and I ran into a tree. In my defense, it's new."


Riley blushes as she laughs. "Thank you. I wore it to make my sister mad because she makes me wear dresses to these things, but she likes it. You look nice and handsome."

"Is that a comment about the size of my behind? Because we the people just can't help having something there, compared to all the pancakes you -"

She frowns, then giggles. "Sorry. I'm going to blame the five aspirins I had before leaving my house as a pick me up. One seat will do just fine, Val."

"Dressed and washed?" She waved a crutch. "Stupid, stupid things."

"See? They won't expect it. We have the element of surprise."

"That's true. All my family fights were genuine, heated, and ended up with everyone storming out of the room and not talking over dinner. I don't know how much love was in them though," he chuckles.
