Curse Removal (Val, Riley & Maybe Grant???)

Val bounced out of bed, early for once in her life. A strengthening potion and a couple good sleeps later and she was brimming with magic and very much ready to start work on the Middleton Estate. Skipping down the hall, she knocked open Riley's door and threw herself across her still sleeping form.

"Unniiiie!" she called into her ear, giggling. "Wakey-wakey! I need your help today. I'll even treat you to breakfast on our way."

Not even bothering to wait for her to get up, she bounded over to her closet and hauled out an outfit, tossing it behind her onto her sister's head. A moment later, she was halfway down the hall, singing some Taylor Swift song at the top of her lungs as she gathered up chalk and herbs for the spell circle. A ridiculously quick, and noisy, minute later she was dressed and in makeup. The plants in the house had begun to go a little wild, tossing off new blooms, which she admonished them for and promised she'd be pruning later. Taking a deep calming breath, she went back to Riley's room.

"Come on, slowpoke! I'm ready when you are."

Riley is in a deep sleep, exhausted from the evening before, when something, no, someone pretty much attacks her. Her eyes fly open, briefly registering her sister's voice before something lands on her head. "YA!" she yells irritably. Riley is not a morning person and Val always has a knack for waking her in the most obnoxious way possible.

Still half asleep, she rolls out of bed, stretches, and lazily pulls on the shorts and blouse Val chose. "You're too loud!" She replies grumpily, twisting her hair up in a bun. Even though she's cranky and sleepy, her priorities are still straight. "I want pancakes."

Val just grins, knowing Riley's put up with her own usual lack of morning-person-ness in the past. It's a family trait, after all. Ignoring her angry mutterings, she grabs her hand and tugs her out the door after her, satchel full of curse breaking things knocking against her hip.

"I can do pancakes," she beams, leading them down the main streets in town to a small cafe and ordering a batch of pancakes, and a coffee, to go for Riley as well as a thermos full of ginseng tea and a carrot muffin for herself. When the order is ready, she stuffs it into Riley's arms and leads the way to the Middleton's mansion.

"All righty! Are you ready to do this? I'm gonna have to siphon some energy from you; it's a big curse. You can eat while I get things set up."

Without waiting for a reply, she pulls out her chalk and starts drawing up a circle for a big working on the ground.

She's not even fully awake and Val's shoving coffee and pancakes into her hands and hauling her off to the Middleton Mansion. Riley pouts the whole way.

"You better hope I wake up soon then," she mentions, sitting on the floor and hauling out her food. "Did you bring an energy potion by chance?" Riley doctors up her coffee and pancakes before digging in. The food almost makes up for the rude awakening.

She pauses in her circle drawing and pulls an energy potion out of her satchel, tossing it to her sister.

"I'm prepared for everything," she grins at her, crouching down and finishing off the circle. "Whenever you're ready, come in here and I'll close us in to prevent magic leaks."

Riley catches the potion and chugs it, instantly feeling energized. She stands up and brushes herself off before stepping into the circle with Val.

"Grandma would be so proud," she says, grinning. "Alright, siphon me."

Val closes off the circle with a trail of herbs around the outside and, with a nod of satisfaction as she feels the magic enclose them, sits. She reaches up and tugs Riley down in front of her, holding onto her hands.

"All right, deep breath." she smiles, before shutting her eyes and breathing deeply, sending a vine of magic out to connect with her sister's. Their close bonds made it as easy as blinking and with each breath, she drew on Riley's power, combining it with her own.

"Ready? I'm going to start de-constructing the spell now."

"Born ready." Riley takes a deep breath as she closes her eyes, folding her fingers around Val's. They used to channel each other'other's powers as kids. It's become second nature for them. She breathes out slowly, feeling her magic stretch out to Val's and connecting. Once it feels strong enough, she squeezes her sister's hand.

Feeling the comforting feeling of her sister's magic connecting to her own, Val feels around for the tendrils of malicious magic, the strings glowing in her vision. She frowns ever so slightly in concentration as she reaches out mentally and begins to untangle the ugliness from the mansion's structure. Much like undoing tiny braids, it was mostly a matter of dragging her magic through the foreign stuff and occasionally pausing to gently work out a knot.

A good hour later, she opened her eyes, half swooning from the magical drain. "Ah! It's gone!" she grinned tiredly at her sister. "I wove a protective spell into the plants around the house as well. Ah... where did I put that tea?"

Letting go of Riley's hands, she stretched out a foot and broke the circle. As she stood, she let out a groan. "Craaamps." she whined, stretching them out as she looked around for her thermos.

Like a good unnie, Riley's after the tea before Val even finishes her complaint. She mutters a comfort charm around the thermos before pouring the tea into the lid and handing it to Val. "Drink up, Soo-yun." And knowing what relaxes her sister after a draining spell, she pulls a small vine from the bag and places it in Val's hand.

Satisfied, Riley grabs a cup from the bag and pours herself some tea as well. She sips it, immediately feeling the warmth radiate through her body. "You did very well, sis."

She shoots her a grateful look, wrapping one hand around the vine as it curls through her fingers. She breathes in the tea and sips from it, feeling her sister's magic work through her veins, relaxing her.

"Thanks." Val smiles, digging for her phone in the bag. "It was an absolute bitch to get out. Not cause of difficulty or anything but just because it was so fricking big. The next person to do something like this is getting a year of never ending poison ivy on their precious places."

Putting her tea down for a moment, she shot off a quick text to Grant: House is all clear now. Safe to bring your mom back. Left a protective charm on the gardens lining the walls

Riley's a momma bird when it comes to her sister, so even as Val is fine and relaxing with her tea and vine, Riley still touches her head and nd checks her vision to make sure she's okay. It's for her own peace of mind. Curses can leave marks on the people who erase them and her priority is to always make sure her sister is safe.

"Ugh what a hassle. I don't understand people most of the time. What did this whole curse thing really accomplish?" She takes a chocolate bar out of the bag and grumpily munched on it.

Val grumbles but lets her sister do her mothering, sipping quietly at her tea. "I'm just tired, you know. I can see and hear just fine."

"It caused a ruckus and got some attention. Probably the entire point." she shrugs. "Not like it really ruined the party all that much. People around here are too used to magic to freak out too much over this stuff."

"Hush and let me comfort you." She pats Val's head. "It's not very effective when half the party is lit and unfazed by a memory loss."

She sticks her tongue out before flopping back into the grass, stretching out as it tickles against her bare arms. "Seriously... They're probably really pissed that they only got a little mention in the paper yesterday," she giggles. "Serves them right, trying to ruin the hard work that went into things."

"Good. I'm glad the Middleton's got more out of that article than they did. It's frustrating to have that happen at a party meant to give us all a level playing field."

"It really is. Whoever pulled that crap is not helping give witches a better name." she sighs, frustrated.

"God, right?" She finishes off her chocolate a bit too angrily. "Just when we get people to start understanding and trusting us, someone has to pull this shit. Admittedly, it could have been a lot worse. But still, really sets us back."

Val leans over to pat her knee. "Lean back and watch the clouds with me. They're calming." she grins, knowing her sister could go off on a rant at any moment.
